Helping drivers better understand ignition interlock laws

In the state of Georgia, those who are on probation and have two or more drunk driving offenses must have an ignition interlock device installed on all vehicles that they own. Furthermore, they may only drive any other vehicle if it has such a device installed on it. Those who are required to have the device must use it for a period of at least 12 months from the time a limited license is granted.

Patch may help to detect excessive alcohol consumption

Although Georgia motorists may understand that exceeding the legal blood alcohol content for driving carries serious consequences, knowing one's actual BAC is difficult without actual testing. Even though an individual might believe that they have adequately restricted consumption before driving, a breath test could prove otherwise. An Albuquerque company is working to address this area of uncertainty through its development of a new drinking safety patch.
